Hours & Location

What are your operating hours?

We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (0730 – 1600). We are closed on weekends and federal holidays.

Where exactly is the ID Lab located?

We are located at 34800 Bob Wilson Drive, Building 26, Floor 2B, Room 07, San Diego, CA 92134, within the Naval Medical Center San Diego complex.

Is walk-in service available?

Yes. Our services are provided on a first-come, first-served walk-in basis during operating hours. No appointments are necessary.

ID Card Types

What types of ID cards do you issue?

We process Common Access Cards (CAC) for active duty, reserve, and civilian personnel, as well as dependent ID cards, retiree ID cards, and other official military identification.

Who is eligible for services here?

Our services are for military personnel, their dependents, and authorized beneficiaries of the Naval Medical Center San Diego.

Do you handle DEERS enrollment?

Yes. ID card issuance is tied to the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). We can assist with updates and verification as part of the ID process.

Documentation

What documents do I need to bring?

Required documents typically include two forms of government-issued ID (one with a photo), your Social Security card, birth certificate, marriage certificate (if applicable), and any current military ID. For specific cases, please call us.

What if I'm getting my first dependent ID?

The sponsor (service member) must be present and in uniform. Bring all original documents proving relationship, citizenship, and the sponsor's military orders.

Do I need to bring my old ID card for a renewal?

Yes. Please bring your expiring or damaged ID card for turn-in when receiving your new one.

Process

How long does the process take?

Processing time varies based on wait time and complexity. Please plan for sufficient time during your visit. Having all correct documents ready significantly speeds up the process.

Can I get a replacement for a lost or stolen ID?

Yes. You will need to file a report with your command or security office and bring a copy of that report, along with all other required identification documents.
